
The 2025 Iowa School Performance Profiles have been released, and both Mid-Prairie elementary schools received commendable ratings, while Mid-Prairie Middle and High School were each given acceptable ratings
The middle and high school’s overall scores in areas including attendance, test results, and test participation were high enough for commendable ratings, but both were deducted by one tier due to poor testing scores among disabled students, which have given both secondary schools a “targeted” status.
The district’s Virtual Academy was also rated commendable.
In terms of attendance, Mid-Prairie had fewer than average chronically absent students at just above 13%, nearly three percent below the state average.The district struggled to get previously absent children back in the classroom, with an attendance growth rate of 3.84%, while the state average was 4.96%.
The district’s four-year graduation rate was above the state average at 92.3%, about three percentage points higher than the state.
The district had over twice the rate of work-based learning in comparison to the state average, with 92.5% of Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks graduating with job-based education. The district was also above average in terms of college credit, with 83.33% of the district receiving some form of college credit, 13 points higher than the state average.
As a district, test scores in all three categories- math, science and english/language arts– and growth in math and ELA proficiency were all above the state average. Among all Mid-Priaire High School students, both math and ELA scores were below the state average, with math at 70.04% and ELA at 69.66%. Growth in math scores was above average for the high school, which was in the 54th percentile, while ELA growth set the state average as the 50th percentile. Mid-Prairie tenth graders beat the state average in science , with 68.82% of students scoring as proficient.
For students with disabilities at Mid-Prairie High School, 7.41% were proficient in math and 14.81% were proficient in ELA. Those numbers led to a well bel ow average 35th percentil e growth rate in math and an almost average 49th percentile growth rate for ELA.
At the Mid-Prairie Middle School 77.4% of students were proficient in math, 78.85% in ELA, and 69.52% in science. Math and ELA growth rates were both above the state average.
Among students with disabilities at the middle school level, 21.95% were proficient in math, 9.76% were proficient in ELA, and 22.22% were proficient in science, with slightly-below average growth rates in the 47th percentile in math and the 48th percentile in ELA.
For students at the elementary school level, tes t scores were around nine points above average in math at 79.91% proficiency and less than a point above average in ELA at 73.8% proficiency. Growth rate was above average for math in the elementaries, while it was below average for ELA in the 43rd percentile.
