The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an estoppel certificate at their Tuesday meeting for the leased tower in Brighton.

Washington County 911 Director Cara Sorrells provided more information, “We did something similar at the Sharon Telephone Site. This is the Wellman Telephone tower down by Brighton on Gingko, and they have sold it to EIB Holdings. It was looked at by [County Attorney] Nathan [Repp], they said that our lease is going to continue as is, with this new company.”

The leased tower at 3220 Ginkgo Avenue in Brighton is being purchased from the Wellman Cooperative Telephone Association by EIP Holdings. Each tenant at the tower site must provide an estoppel certificate.

An estoppel certificate establishes the current status of the lease terms for a third party. Generally, the certificate requests that the tenant verify that the rent is current or whether the tenant has any potential claims against the landlord.

The Supervisors approved the estoppel certificate unanimously.
