Washington County was well represented in the Fabrics and Threads categories at the Iowa State Fair with ribbons going home to Riverside and Wellman. 

Katie McClennen from Wellman, placed in the following categories: felted knit item, lace stitch shawl, one yarn scarf, and other animal fibers worsted weight. She received honorable mention for her multiple color yarn scarf, and cellulose fibers. 

Tara Murray from Wellman placed in cellulose fibers, and handspun garment or fashion accessory. She received honorable mention in knitted adult vest and item made from handspun yarn.  

Alice Grimm from Riverside placed in multiple crochet categories including: centerpiece 14-21 inches in diameter and 22-30 inches in diameter, dresser scarf or runner, and fillet crochet. She received honorable mention in the tablecloth category, and doily less than 14 inches.
