The Washington County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office is hosting a farmland leasing arrangement workshop on Tuesday.
The meeting, which will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the extension office, will focus on land values, market outlook, cash rent trends, cost of production, methods for determining a fair rental rate, legal updates regarding leases, and communicating with tenants or landowners.
Presenters will also address common questions regarding farm estate and succession planning and how it impacts rental agreements.
With over half of Iowa’s farmland currently being rented, the workshop is designed to give land owners and agribusiness professionals resources and knowledge to craft stronger, more well-informed rental agreements.
Attendees will also receive a 100-page workbook with resources like surveys, sample written lease agreements and termination forms.
