The spectacle of Golden Hawk Football is set to be a step higher this fall following the installation of a video scoreboard that was purchased with the help of Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant funding.
The total cost of the scoreboard was $160,000, $60,000 of which was funded through the Riverboat grant the district’s activities department received in May. Of the remaining $100,000, $50,000 was provided by the Athletic Boosters, $15,000 by the district, and $35,000 by outside fundraising.
Mid-Prairie Head Football Coach Daren Lambert describes how the video board will impact student and fan experience at Mid-Prairie, “It’s going to provide a great experience with that video board, you can put players’ pictures up there, events from the band and the dance team, middle school games and track as well, it can post times. It’s just going to be a great upgrade to the overall experience.”
The delivery and installation process was completed on Tuesday, although the board will not be operational until closer to the start of the season due to construction on Mid-Prairie’s campus.
