The Washington City Council approved six Downtown Investment Grant projects at their meeting on Tuesday, totaling $105,000. Three of these grants are Micro-DIG, which provide funds up to $10,000 for smaller-scale exterior projects. This is the first year for the Micro-DIG option.
The projects approved include Crawford Block 115-117 N. Iowa Ave., Columbian Block 200 S. Iowa Avenue, Modern Eye Care 301 S. Iowa Avenue, Jane Anne Boutique 121 W. Washington Street, Cox Motor Co. 112-16 W. 2nd Street, and Myers Building 219 W. Main Street.
Main Street Washington Executive Director Samantha Meyer shared the grant process this year, “We are so excited, the round this year, we actually had a couple that we didn’t grant, so it’s getting really competitive. This program has grown, and we were really happy to be able to offer those micro-grants this year, which helped because we have a lot of businesses that just needed to do small projects that just really help grow and beautify our downtown.”
The Downtown Investment Grants are funded through the City of Washington through a municipal grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, and are administered by Main Street Washington.
