The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team ends their regular season tonight traveling to West Burlington High School for a non-conference doubleheader with the Falcons. The Hawks are trying to find some momentum going into the playoffs. They stand at 6-20 on the year and have dropped 11 straight, including a 24-5 loss at home to Eddyville-Blakesburg Thursday. This year the Golden Hawks hit .266 as a team with a .359OBP and .345 slug on 126 runs, 174 hits, 105RBI, 78 walks and 126 strikeouts. Sophie Miller leads individually with a .456 average, 36 hits and 20 RBI. Claire Trimpe has scored 22 times. In the circle, Alena Snider and Kadence Grout have thrown 140 combined innings for a 8.60ERA, 2.20WHIP, .339 opponent average, 236 hits, 171 earned runs, 84 walks and 58 strikeouts. Each has won three games.

West Burlington Notre Dame is 14-17 this year, finishing 7-5, third in the Southeast Iowa Superconference South Division. They have dropped seven straight including 10-3 and 11-1 losses to Burlington last time out. This year, the Falcons hit .338 collectively with a .412OBP and .495 slug, 196 runs, 260 hits, 176RBI, 79 walks and 108 strikeouts. Individually, Whitney Snowden carries a .437 average. She and Orayana Gonzalez have 38 hits each, Madalynn Knapp has scored 27 times and Lyndsey Kelley has driven in 28. In the circle, Maelyn Thomas and Gonzalez have gone 150 innings with a 5.75ERA, two WHIP, .300 opponent average, 219 hits, 133 earned runs, 103 walks and 137 strikeouts. The Falcons have won four of the last five meetings including 10-3 in 2023. Mid-Prairie’s last win was in 2014.
