
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball and baseball teams travel to Iowa City tonight for a set of River Valley Conference contests with rival Iowa City Regina. The Golden Hawk girls are 6-15 this year, 3-5 in the RVC after dropping three games over the weekend at the Linn-Mar tournament to North Linn, Northeast Goose Lake, and the home Lions. The Hawks are hitting .273 as a team with a .378OBP and .357 slug with 98 runs, 120 hits, 85RBI, 65 walks and 74 strikeouts. Sophie Miller leads with a .490 average, and 25 hits. Kadence Grout has 17RBI and Elise Foster 17 runs. In the circle, Alena Snider, Naomi Wadsworth and Grout have worked 100 innings with a 6.98ERA, 2.14WHIP, .310 opponent average, 145 hits, 98 earned runs, 65 walks and 40 strikeouts.
The Regals are 5-14 this year, 3-6 in the River Valley. They were beaten 16-0 over the weekend by No. 5 in Class 4A Carlisle at the Clear Creek Amana/Solon Classic. Regina hits .178 as a team with a .277OBP, .229 slug, 33 runs, 69 hits, 25RBI, 48 walks and 101 strikeouts. Lily Nibaur leads with a .292 average and 14 hits. Laci Chambliss has 10RBI and Harper Erwin 11 runs scored. In the circle, Nibaur and Reese Litton have gone 100 innings with a 3.95ERA, 1.56WHIP, .267 opponent average, 136 hits, 61 earned runs, 32 walks and 91 strikeouts. The Regals have won seven of the last 10 in the series, including sweep all meetings a season ago.
The Mid-Prairie boys are 14-10 on the year and 10-5 in the River Valley after a 7-4 loss Friday in Cedar Rapids to Cascade. The Hawks are hitting .258 as a team with a .390OBP, .348slug, 139 runs, 155 hits, 113RBI, 102 walks and 128 strikeouts. Individually, Tatem Telfer leads with a .385 average and 20RBI. Brooks Weber has 26 hits and 19 runs scored. On the mound, the Mid-Prairie staff ERA is 3.06 with a 1.46WHIP, .231 opponent average, 139 hits, 68 earned runs, 89 walks and 188 strikeouts. Telfer and the Webers are a combined 13-2 with a 2.20ERA.
Iowa City Regina is 19-4 on the year and 12-2 in the RVC. The Regals beat Clinton 13-2 on Friday. The Regals are ranked No. 9 in Class 2A in the latest poll issued by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. This year, Regina hits .318 as a team with a .428OBP and .424 slug with 160 runs on 194 hits, 134RBI, 94 walks and 102 strikeouts. Jack Gavin is the individual leader with a .431 average, 28 hits and 21RBI. Connor Nicpon leads with 26 runs scored. On the mound, the Regina staff ERA is 2.69 with a 1.35WHIP, .185 opponent average, 98 hits, 57 earned runs, 102 walks and 132 strikeouts. Will Litton and Nicpon are a combined 8-0 with a 1.45ERA. These two have split their last 16 meetings, with Regina winning two of three a year ago.
