
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team made it two wins Thursday on a River Valley Conference road trip to Durant. The Golden Hawks got game one by a 5-3 score. This was a game that was suspended in the third inning Monday due to weather, with Mid-Prairie on top 1-0. The second half of the contest saw Durant tie the game with a fifth inning run. Conner Wiles gave the Golden Hawks the lead for good with a sixth inning grand slam, and a Wildcat rally with two runs would fall short in the seventh. The Hawks finished with three total hits, one each for Wiles, Blake Swart and Brady Weber. Wiles had four RBI, Swart, Landry Gingerich, Cash Brown and Wiles all scored. On the mound, Brooks Weber threw four innings of two-hit ball and with one walk and four strikeouts.
The nightcap went Mid-Prairie’s way 8-5. Durant jumped on top with two in the first. The Golden Hawks took the lead for good with four in the third at 4-2 and added three more in the sixth to go up 7-2. The Wildcats scored twice in the bottom half and each team had a run in the seventh. Mid-Prairie had five total hits in the game and drew six walks. It was a two-hit night for Cash Brown with an RBI. Brady Weber drove in two on a hit and scored a run. Brooks Weber, Wiles, and Gentry Bontrager also had an RBI each. Tatem Telfer recorded the win with five and a third innings on the mound, five hits, three earned runs, two walks and 12 strikeouts. After the sweep, Mid-Prairie stood at 14-9 on the year and 10-5 in conference. Durant is 14-6 overall and 10-4 in the RVC.
