It’s a Friday night edition of the KCII Area Game of the Week when the Hillcrest Academy Raven softball team travels to face fellow Johnson County conference foe Lone Tree in a game you can hear on KCII.

The Lady Lions, 13-6 overall, are on a tear as of late, having won seven in a row as of Thursday afternoon. Lone Tree bats .327 this season with an OBP of .440 and a slug of .404, having scored 133 runs on 148 hits with 96 batted in. Individually, two Lions bat .400 or better, including seniors Vivian Zaruba and Alex Dautremont at .421 and .451, respectively. In the circle, Lone Tree owns a staff record of 12-6, having allowed 107 runs, 66 earned, on 122 hits, 49 walks to 98 strikeouts, a .221 opponent average, 4.11 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. Dautremont has handled the bulk of the team’s 112-and-a-third innings pitched, allowing 37 earned runs on 22 walks and 53 punchouts.

Hillcrest is 10-11 overall after a loss at home Wednesday afternoon to rival Highland. This year, the Ravens have scored 166 runs on 176 hits, good for a .307 average, .431 OBP and a .396 slug. Seniors Malia Yoder and Delaney Shaw lead the team in batting average and slug, with Shaw having clubbed a Superconference North best five home runs. As a team, Hillcrest has allowed 169 runs, 74 earned, on 168 hits, 78 walks to 122 strikeouts, an opponent average of .236, a staff ERA of 3.97 and a WHIP of 1.89. Yoder has faced the fifth-most at bats in the state at 557, owning a 4.60 ERA and 1.96 WHIP.

In the Varsity Bound era, Lone Tree leads the all-time series with Hillcrest 30-7 dating back to 2007 and has taken the last 13 matchups, including a victory in Kalona earlier this month by a 15-4 final.
