In a battle of the top two teams in the North Division of Southeast Iowa Superconference baseball Monday, it was the Hillcrest Academy Ravens that took a key 9-0 road win in Riverside over the Highland Huskies Monday. The Ravens controlled the game, scoring in each of the first three frames to build a 5-0 lead, then capped the night on offense with a four run seventh to seal the win. Hillcrest bats were led by Micah Gerber’s two hit night with an RBI. Phoenix Anderson knocked in a pair and Liam Schrock and Lawson Schrock had one RBI each. Mason Bender scored twice in the win. Seth Ours slammed the door on the Huskies at every turn, throwing a two-hit complete game shut out with five strikeouts. Bryce Hazelett and Hunter Seibel had the only two hits for Highland. Colten Sypherd took the loss, working three frames with three hits, two earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts.
Highland remains on top of the division at 5-1 and 8-5 overall. Hillcrest is 7-2 in the league at 8-6 on the year.
