The Department of Homeland Security announced it is ending the Quiet Skies Program earlier this month.

The program was designed to track American airline travelers who had prior contact with known or suspected terrorists. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said it was used to target political opponents and benefit political allies.

KCII News asked U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley if there was going to be a similar program created to take its place, “There is nothing taking its place, and I think there is a feeling that there isn’t a need for the program anymore. Maybe there was a need when it was put in place.”

The Quiet Skies program was created in 2018.
