The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team finished a 3-0 week in River Valley Conference play, getting by the No. 15 Wilton Beavers 4-3 in Wellman. The Hawks swept a doubleheader at Wilton Monday 5-0 and 4-1. Thursday, the Beavers took an early lead with a second inning run. Mid-Prairie answered with four in the bottom of the third to go on top 4-1. Wilton made a move in the sixth to get within 4-3, but the Golden Hawks held off the late charge. Mid-Prairie had six hits in the game and drew six walks. Gentry Bontrager had two RBI, Landry Gingerich and Jason Heitman added one each. Heitman led the way with two hits. Tatem Telfer got the win, throwing six innings with one hit, two earned runs, five walks and 12 strikeouts. Conner Wiles worked the seventh, giving up one hit to earn his third save of the year. The win moved Mid-Prairie to 12-6, while the Beavers dropped to 10-8.
