sigourney-keota-2

Both the Sigourney Savages and Keota Eagles collected conference wins on the softball field last night. Sigourney defeated Lynnville-Sully 5-3, helping the Savages stay undefeated in the South Iowa Cedar League and raise their record to 10-5 overall.

Keota cruised to a 9-1 victory over Belle Plaine, racing out to the lead with seven runs in the first inning. The Eagles improve to 5-4, including a 4-4 record in conference play.

Keota baseball would not have the same luck, falling to Belle Plaine 6-5. The Eagles led most of the night after grabbing a pair of runs in the first and matching two runs by Belle Plaine in the fifth with two of their own in the sixth.

But the Plainsmen scored four times in the top of the seventh to come from behind and take the win. The loss drops Keota to 4-6, including a 3-6 mark in the SICL.
