RFIP grants are cost-sharing grants designed to help retailers with the installing, replacing, or converting of fuel infrastructure that can support renewable fuels. The grants cover 90% of the costs for retailers that have never stored or dispensed E-15 fuel with 10 or fewer gas stations and total fuel gallonage less than 140,000, 75% for such retailers with total fuel gallonage more than 140,000, and 70% for all other retailers.
The awards come ahead of the E-15 Fuel Access Standard, set to go into effect on January 1, 2026, which requires most gas stations and fuel retailers to offer E-15.
