Renovations on the Captain Kirk Future Birthplace Memorial are coming to a close just in time for Riverside’s 40th annual Trekfest celebration later this month.
The improvements include the addition of an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramp and additional landscaping done at the monument site. Riverside City Administrator Cole Smith says that the contractor side of the project is finished, with finishing touches to be done before Trekfest, “Our staff have done a lot of work this last week to get everything together with the landscaping and moving the Free Little Library back in… I would say we’re at 95% completion.” The cost of the ramp was just over $33,000.
Trekfest 40 will be Friday, June 27 and Saturday June 28 in Riverside. There will also be a “warmup” event on the evening of Thursday, June 26.
