The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams are both back on the diamond Friday night. The Golden Hawk girls make the trip to Burlington. The Hawks are 3-1 on the year, and 2-0 in the RVC, after a 12-4 win over West Branch on Thursday in Kalona. For the year, Mid-Prairie is hitting .410 as a group with a .488OBP and .525 slug with 52 runs on 47 hits, 46RBI, 19 walks and 21 strikeouts. Individually, six Hawks are at .400 or better, led by Elise Foster’s .533. She and Sophia Puttman have a team-leading eight hits, Puttman has scored a team best eight times, and Kadence Grout has 10 RBI to lead. In the circle, the Mid-Prairie staff ERA is 6.65 with a 2.20WHIP on a .299 opponent average with 35 hits, 25 earned runs, 23 walks and 19 strikeouts. Grout has a 2-0 mark and 1.80ERA to lead.

Burlington is 3-4 this year and 1-2 in the Southeast Conference, after an 8-3 win over Keokuk on Thursday. This year, the Grayhounds hit .310 together with a .398OBP and .380 slug with 34 runs, 44 hits, 25 driven in, 22 walks and 26 strikeouts. Individually, four are hitting .400 or better, with Lillian Hand the leader at .471. She and Keirah Wiseman each have eight hits, Hand has eight RBI and Wiseman has scored nine times. In the circle the Hounds have a team ERA of 5.35 and 1.82WHIP, with a .235 opponent average on 40 hits, 26 earned runs, 22 walks and 46 strikeouts. Kylee Hill is 2-2 with a 1.91ERA. Burlington won this game a year ago 11-0.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team is 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the RVC coming into the night. They are on a six game winning streak after a 12-1 victory in six over West Branch Thursday. The Hawks are ranked No. 12 in Class 2A in the latest IABaseball poll and No. 13 by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. This year, Mid-Prairie is hitting .315 together with a .440OBP and .441 slug with 77 runs, 75 hits, 62RBI, 43 walks and 52 strikeouts. Individually, five Hawks are at .300 or better, led by Jason Heitman’s .467 average and his team high 14 hits. Brooks Weber and Conner Wiles each have a team best nine RBI and Weber has scored 11 times. On the mound, Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 1.57 with a 1.12WHIP, including a .139 opponent average, on 28 hits, 13 earned runs, 37 walks and 89Ks. Brady Weber, Brooks Weber and Tatem Telfer are a combined 8-0 with a 0.87ERA.

Fairfield is 6-3 this year, 3-0 in the Southeast Conference and on their own five game winning streak after a 2-1 Thursday victory over Fort Madison. The Trojans are hitting .340 together with a .476OBP and .455 slug, including 91 runs on 86 hits, 76RBI, 56 walks and 63 strikeouts. Five Trojans are at .400 or above led by Luke Konczal’s .483, Dain Burkhart has a team leading 16 hits, Aiden Westercamp has a Trojan best 13 driven in. On the hill, the Fairfield team ERA is 3.05 with a 1.47WHIP on a .212 opponent average, 50 hits, 25 earned runs, 34 walks and 60 strikeouts. Individually, Burkhart has a 2-1 record and 2.93ERA. The Golden Hawks have won five straight in the series including a 12-6 win on the road a year ago.
