Welcome To Riverside
Planning pushes forward for the Riverside Wellness Center, with initial building designs being shared by the city. The plans call for three basketball courts, concessions, locker rooms, a community room, storage space and an outdoor patio on the first floor and a weight room, a fitness studio and a track on the second floor. It will be located on Galileo Drive east of Riverside Elementary School.
City Administrator Cole Smith said the project has been a longtime coming, “Anyone who has been around Riverside for any length of time knows this has been a project that our community has been working towards for a substantial amount of time. However, I think we’re now at a point where we have the right people in the right positions and the right resources to make something happen.”
According to Smith, the city is currently analyzing the financial impact of the estimated $10 million project, specifically whether or not the city will need to service debt. He went on to say the city plans to bring the issue of financing to the voters with a general obligation bond referendum this November, which is how the city intends to pay for the bulk of the construction.
