The Wellman City Council is set to meet on Monday, with a public hearing on fencing regulations to be held.

The hearing is on an amendment to the city’s fencing ordinance which would remove requirements for a written agreement between neighbors before a fence can be placed on a property line. The amendment has been discussed at each of the council’s last two meetings, but this is the first time the official text of the amendment will be read publicly. The suggested change would allow owners to place fences on property lines, with any potential disputes to be figured out through surveying and the property owners.

Discussion is also expected to continue on upcoming sewer maintenance as the council weighs the need to keep maintenance up to date against the availability of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, which the city cannot receive again until the completion of other already-approved projects. The council renewed its maintenance contract with CIT Sewer Solutions for $25,000 per year at its previous meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the City Hall Council Chambers.
