The Highland Community School District received a grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation for a new makerspace classroom.

The classroom will include a recording studio for music and podcasts, a greenscreen with lighting and cameras for video, and a graphic design studio. Dean of Students Bill Zywiec(ZIWEEYAK), who also wrote the grant application, said it will give students a chance for more applied learning, “It’s going to allow teachers to take what they’re learning in the classroom and give the kids a hands-on opportunity to actually produce their own products, which is going to be essential.”

The grant was awarded for $13,498 and the total project is estimated at around $27,000.
