The Sigourney Savage boys’ golf team has punched its ticket to state after winning a share of a Class 1A district tournament championship Monday at Crestwood Hills Golf Course in Anita. Sigourney finished with a combined team score of 318 strokes, tying Woodbine and CAM for first place.

The Savages were led by another outstanding round from Jordan Tremmel. After the freshman had their best score in a victory at sectionals last week, Tremmel shot a five-over-par 77 Monday to lead Sigourney and finish fifth on the individual leaderboard.

Junior teammate Solon Yates tied for ninth overall with a 79, while sophomore Ike Molyneux fired an 80 and junior Josh Wyatt carded an 87.

Seniors Cain Weber and Isaac Bruns added rounds of 82 and 86, respectively, as the Savages reach the state tournament as a team for the first time since 2019.  Sigourney will play in the Class 1A state championships at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.
