The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team takes the pitch in the first round of the postseason tonight when they host the Wapello Arrows in a Class 1A regional opener. The Hawks are 4-10-3 this year after a Friday Senior Night loss to Bellevue 2-1. On the season, Mid-Prairie has been outscored 36-24 with 127 shots on goal, 55 corner kicks, 11 assists and a team 81% save percentage. Individually, Meadow Flynn leads with eight goals, Lydia Beachy has four assists and Niva Helmuth has made 125 saves in goal.

Wapello is winless this season in 12 tries including a 5-1 loss to Columbus to end the regular season a week ago. This year the Arrows have been outscored 68-6 in total with 52 shots on goal, 12 corners, two assists and a 73% team save percentage. Individually, Kallie Kemper has five goals, Giselle Camarena and Macey Hackett one assist each and in goal, Keelyn Griffin has 178 saves. Mid-Prairie has won all three meetings between these teams by a total of 25-1. The winner of tonight’s contest advances to play Mount Pleasant in the second round Wednesday.
