Washington County is approaching a month of drought-free conditions according to the latest data from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

For the fourth consecutive week, none of Washington county is experiencing drought conditions, with both Iowa and Johnson counties also remaining drought-free.

Keokuk County held at 44% abnormally dry, the same as last week.

Henry County saw a slight increase in drought-affected area in its southeastern and southwestern corners, climbing to 3.82% abnormally dry this week.

Jefferson and Louisa counties saw larger increases in drought numbers this week. Jefferson is now 37.6% abnormally dry, up from last week’s 22.4%, while over half of Louisa is now experiencing drought conditions at 55.3% abnormally dry.
