The Washington Demons scored a conference win in girls’ soccer Friday by knocking off Mount Pleasant 2-0 at Washington Wellness Park. Junior Jocci Carter scored a goal in each half to give the Demons what they would need to topple the rival Panthers.

Junior Luna Cuevas assisted one of the two Washington goals, while junior goalkeepper Aleigha Medley got a great effort from her defensive line and only had to make one save to help the Demons improve to 2-2 in the Southeast Conference and 5-3 overall.

The Washington boys would not have the same luck Saturday at the Muscatine Tournament, dropping both of their matches. The Demons trailed Central DeWitt 3-0 at halftime and would get just one goal back in the second half, and while they kept the first half scoreless against the hosting Muskies, they would end up suffering a 2-0 defeat.

The losses drop Washington to 1-8. Both Demon soccer teams have conference matches against Burlington when they return to the pitch later today.
