The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team got the job done on the mat and in the classroom this winter and were recognized by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association for their hard work. As a team, the Hawks were one of only 26 schools in all of Iowa to be named an Academic All-State team. In order to reach this standard, the team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. As a team, Mid-Prairie won the school’s first ever River Valley Conference team championship, crowned three individual RVC champs, sent three wrestlers to the State Tournament, and finished with a dual record of 11-7.

Individually, a pair of Golden Hawk seniors were named IWCOA Academic All-State. Ashlee Farrier was an Academic All-State selection. Farrier finished the season as a River Valley Champion, qualified for State for the third time in her career, finishing on the podium in fifth place, the first Golden Hawk girl to win a medal since wrestling became a sanctioned sport, reached the 100 career win milestone, and ended her time at Mid-Prairie as the schools all-time wins leader with 105. She finished this season with a 33-3 record. In order to reach Academic All-State status an athlete must be a junior or senior in the recently completed season, qualify for the State Tournament and hold a GPA of 3.75 or better.

Gingerich was an IWCOA Honorable Mention Academic All-State choice. Gingerich won a River Valley Conference title and was a State qualifier for the Hawks. She put together a 23-10 campaign. In order to be named Honorable Mention Academic All-State an athlete must be a junior or senior in the recently completed season, qualify for the State Tournament and hold a GPA of 3.50 or better.
