A medical helicopter transported one person away from a two-vehicle wreck in Washington County Saturday night. According to Washington County Communications, at 7:38 p.m. two vehicles collided head-on blocking both lanes of G36. The wreck happened east of Redwood Avenue.

The two drivers involved in the wreck were Dunia Kabonga and Christin Salas. 

The sheriff’s deputy who arrived on scene advised that both drivers were trapped in their vehicles. Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Washington County Ambulance, Washington EMS, Ainsworth Fire Department, Ainsworth QRS, Washington Rescue, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene. Washington County roads department staff provided barricades at the scene.

A Medforce helicopter and a Washington County Ambulance each transported one person to the University of Iowa Hospital, arriving at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
