The Lone Tree volleyball team scored a Southeast Iowa Superconference win at Hillcrest Union over the Ravens Thursday. The Lady Lions were straight set winners by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-20. Lone Tree was led on the night by Ella Buser’s 15 assists, eight kills from Riley Krueger, eight digs from Avery Morarie, and three aces each from Cate Sexton, Krueger and Morarie. After the match Buser and Krueger joined KCII Sports to talk about the keys on the night. “I just know we were having a lot of fun out there. The first set was a big confidence booster for us. We played them earlier in the year, we were new, we hadn’t really played together and were just thrown out there. Now we’re better and have grown as a team. We remembered their strategies and were going to beat them this time. In the second and third sets we were getting a lot more action at the net with Cate Sexton and Avery Morarie getting a lot of blocks and that really gets us fired up. Every time we have something good at the net it gets the whole team going.”

Hillcrest Academy was led by Claire Withrow’s 29 assists and 17 digs and nine kills for Malia Yoder. With the win, Lone Tree is 5-18, Hillcrest falls to 2-19.
