Summer Lisk of Fairfield is the author of the book 23 Summers Ago Finding the Best Version of Me Through My Battle with Anorexia.
Lisk shares how during the pandemic she realized it was time to complete the book she started writing seven years prior, “I just was laying in bed and it just kept coming to me like I gotta get this book done. I really feel like if I could help one person through my journey then that’s what I’m here for. I’m here to help people. That’s why I’m a trainer. So I can help people.”
Lisk attributes how society’s portrayal in magazines and social media of what women should look like fuels the disease of anorexia, “Women feel that they’re not good enough. If I just look like this I’ll be good enough. If I look like this then I’m successful. It’s a really sad industry but it’s our reality.”
