It was the final girl/boy basketball doubleheader of the season in Winfield on Thursday, and the Wolves split with Louisa-Muscatine for the second time in a month.

In their first meeting on January 7th the WMU girls lost by 30, but last night revenge was on their minds and they gave the Falcons a run for their money. The game was nip and tuck the entire way with more than 32 minutes needed to declare a winner. The score was tied at 41-41 at the end of regulation and both teams traded punches with the game finally decided in the second overtime when the Falcons won the four minute stretch 11-6 to come away with a 56-51 victory. The sisters of Kylee and Hailey Sanders combined for 40 of the Falcons’ 56 points. Melina Oepping led the Wolves with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Keetyn Townsley chipped in with 10 points and Farrah Nelson hauled in 12 boards. They end the regular season 11-10 and host Highland on Thursday in a first round class 1A regional contest.
