
Temperatures, snowfall, and overall precipitation were all higher than normal in January across eastern Iowa. The National Weather Service says snowfall across the region was about three inches above normal and precipitation was two-thirds to an inch above normal. In Washington, the average temperature is normally 20.9 degrees but last month it was recorded at 24.9 degrees. Also, in Washington the total snowfall was about two inches above normal at 8.2 inches and total precipitation was above the normal 1.3 inches at 2.05 inches. The average temperature in Iowa City last month was 5.2 degrees above normal.
