
The Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament is underway in Des Moines. Fourteen area wrestlers took to the mat Thursday to open competition. Those who advanced to Friday’s quarter-finals include: Washington’s Tristin Westphal and Logan Escher; Highland’s Brady Hahn; Sigourney-Keota’s Mason Dye; and Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union’s Jarod Kadel.
Mid-Prairie’s Isaac Boucher and WACO’s Jalen Collins are in the consolation bracket.
Area athletes who competed in the first day of the tournament and were eliminated include: Washington’s Walker Ikerd, Garrett Ikerd, and Dillan Sanders; Highland’s Geoff Streb, Cory Stewart, and Dan Burton; and WACO’s Jonah Clark. Listen to KCII Sports for details and updates from Des Moines.
