One driver has been cited in a two-vehicle wreck that resulted in a truck hitting a tree and an SUV rolling onto its top in Washington. As heard live from the scene on KCII December 28th, two vehicles collided at the intersection of East Washington Street and 12th Avenue, with the vehicles coming to rest at 13th Avenue, the SUV ended up in a nearby yard. Amber Woodsmall of Fairfield was cited for failure to stop in assured clear distance. The other driver was Jeffrey Jay Smith of Wellman. Two people were injured and transported by Washington County Ambulance to the Washington County Hospital. Debris was scattered across all four lanes of Washington Street. Alliant Energy and Windstream were notified for a power line down across East Washington Street. The road was completely blocked while crews assisted at the scene and cleared the vehicles and debris. Responding to the scene were the Washington Fire Department, Washington Ambulance, Washington Rescue, Washington Police, Iowa Department of Transportation, and area first responders.
