The Keota boys’ basketball team is 6-5 at the halfway mark through the season. They’re putting up almost 68 points per game; over a third of which is coming from one player.
JD Stout had a marvel of a first half, with off-the-charts offensive numbers. Through 11 games, he’s put up 305 points (good for second in the state across all classes, by the way), and has done so by shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 45 percent from three-point range. He has been held to under 20 just one time this season, and set a new career-high with 40 points against Lone Tree in the second game of the season. And on top of all that, the North Mahaska game brought his 1,000th career point; halfway through his junior season.
JD’s numbers are undeniable. But according to his dad and head coach, Dan Stout, JD knows he coundn’t have reached that mark alone.
“[JD] gives a lot of credit to his teammates that he’s played with the last three years,” Dan Stout said. “He doesn’t do this stuff without those guys.”
Stout and the Eagles will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 4 when they hit the road to take on Colfax-Mingo.
