Statewide there were 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork last week.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig said, “For the most part the crop is in the ground and in good condition, with 81 percent of corn and 78 percent of soybeans rated good to excellent. However, it is important to recognize that some farmers have faced significant weather challenges as well, with dry conditions a concern in southern Iowa and severe flooding in northern Iowa.” In southeast Iowa, 93% of corn has emerged, just one percentage point behind the five-year average. Soybeans in southeast Iowa are ahead of the five-year average of 75% with 89% emerged.
