An annual event to get handicapped residents outdoors and active with others will be happening this Wednesday.

The Chicaqua chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, Inc. will be hosting a handicapped fishing day at the upper pond at Marr Park this Wednesday. This event has been held for over 60 years and invites physically challenged citizens of all ages for a fishing outing and lunch. Chapter President Don Pfeiffer says they continue to host this event to give handicapped residents a chance at exercise and activities that they might not have access to otherwise.

Fishing will start at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and they will break for a pork burger lunch at 11:30 provided by Pat Hartsock. Awards will be presented by sheriff’s deputies to attendees. This event is free to attend, for more information contact Pfeiffer at 319-653-4912.
