The Washington Demon baseball team completed a sweep last night of 2A opponent Mediapolis at Dick Sojka Memorial Field.
It was an offensive onslaught in game one, with the Demons taking home the win 11-4. All but one Demon notched a hit in that one, and all of them reach base at least once. Landon Hinkley and Wilx Witthoft led the way, each going three for four at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Kole Hinrichsen was stellar on the mound, going six innings pitched allowing three earned runs on six hits and striking out seven to earn the win.
The nightcap was about as dramatic as they come, with the game being tied or the lead changing hands seven times throughout. The Demons were down 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth, but came back with three runs, including a go-ahead RBI single from Cade Hennigan, to go up 8-7. Brady Knutson came out to pitch in the seventh to nail down a three-out save and secure the victory.
This moves Washington to 4-2 on the young season, with their next action coming tonight at Fairfield. First pitch for that one is scheduled for 5:30.
