Two cars were towed from the scene after one was rear-ended east of Wayland Wednesday.

According the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Israel Jimenez of Washington and 20-year-old Chloe Schlatter of Wayland were both driving eastbound on Highway 78 at about 3:42 p.m. when Jimenez slowed down to turn south on Gabriel Avenue. Schlatter then rear ended Jimenez. Schlatter and Jimenez both suffered minor injuries and each took a private transport to the hospital. They were both wearing seatbelts, and there were no passengers involved. Schlatter was cited for failure to maintain control. Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Wayland Police Department, Henry County Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, Wayland Fire Department, Wayland First Responders, and Wayland Rescue all assisted at the scene.
