The ballots have been counted and the new mayor of Washington is Jaron Rosien.
He won with 1,018 votes, while Pete Schaefer received 279 votes. For Washington, in the at-large council race Elaine Moore won with 782 votes over Evie Richardson with 411. The Ward 4 seat will be held by Fran Stigers who had 144 votes, followed by Bob Gaal with 100 and Chris Gault with 77. The Ward 2 seat will again be held by Steven Gault who ran for reelection unopposed and received 161 votes.
Results are in and incumbents and newcomers were elected to mayoral and council seats in area elections. David Hagans was elected for Brighton mayor, beating incumbent Robert B. Farley 45-31. For the City of Riverside incumbent Allen Schneider won the mayoral seat with 154 votes while 59 votes were cast for Joseph Graff. Incumbent Tom Sexton was reelected to Riverside City Council with 107 votes and Andy Rodgers was elected with 116 votes. In the contested Kalona City Council election incumbents Mark Robe, Joe Schmidt, and Craig Spitzer were selected to fill the three seats.
