The Sigourney-Keota football team finds themselves one win away from getting back to the postseason after they defeated Wapello on Friday in a shootout 48-41.
Sigourney-Keota stuck to their bread and butter as they ran all over the Indian defense. Carson Crawford has been their workhorse back all season and he didn’t shy away from the big stage. The junior finished the night with a remarkable 349 yards on the ground and five touchdowns. Luke Greiner also carried the load finishing the night with 202 yards and scoring twice. The pair has developed into an effective one-two punch racking up over 2,000 yards combined rushing on the year. The Indians found success through the air as Logan Belzer finished the night 18 of 36 for 287 yards and four scores but it was not enough as the Cobras held on for the exciting 48-41 victory.
With the win Sigourney-Keota moves to 5-3 as Wapello falls to 4-4. The Cobras postseason hopes all comes down to Friday night as they face off with Wilton (7-1) to decide the second seed out of the district.
