With an above .500 record a year ago the Highland football team will look to continue the trend with a new face of the program.

Scott Morel took over the reigns as head coach in the summer for a team that seeks to reload at various positions. A thousand-yard passer Jake Wood was lost to graduation which means dual threat quarterback Trey Lasek will take over under center. As the running back a year ago, Lasek led the team in rushing with 799 yards and eight touchdowns. He also showed his throwing potential completing one pass for 40 yards. Mason McFarland will be a player to watch on the outside, as he showed his explosiveness with one catch for a 52-yard touchdown last year in limited time. Up front the Huskies will be led by returning starters Brody and Dan Burton. On the defensive side, junior Brady Hahn returns as the leading tackler with 29.

The Huskies will get a jumpstart to their season by hosting North Mahaska in a week zero game on Friday.
