A single vehicle accident occurred south of Mount Pleasant on Highway 218.

On July 1 at approximately 4 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call advising there had been an accident southbound near the intersection of Old Highway 218 and U.S. Highway 218. An investigation concluded that Keri Nacole Herr of Mount Pleasant swerved her vehicle to avoid striking a deer. She then lost control and hit a bridge. The vehicle rolled once and came to rest on its wheels on the west shoulder of U.S. Highway 218. Herr was cited for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle and for violating the conditions of a restricted license. Herr and a passenger were transported to the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant. Henry County Paramedics, Mount Pleasant Fire, and the Mount Pleasant Police Department all responded to the scene.
