Normally, Washington endures nearly two feet of snow throughout the winter, but this year less than half of that was recorded locally. According to the National Weather Service, from July 1st through April 1st Washington’s normal snowfall for the season is 22.4 inches. This winter only 7.2 inches of snow was observed. The record was set in 1960 with nearly five feet of snow. According to the Midwest Regional Climate Center, snowfall was below normal across two-thirds of the state this winter.
