
The Iowa Mennonite School touring choir left Wednesday for a trip that will take them more than 800 miles east to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania for the Mennonite Schools Council Choir Festival.
On the way the choir will make stops for performances in Goshen, Indiana and Kidron, Ohio before arriving in Pennsylvania.
The choir will perform a wide range of pieces, from 15th century compositions to present day. Genres include English, Spanish, Latin, German and even Zulu. The IMS choir will perform as a stand alone group at 2 p.m. CST Sunday and as a part of a final staging of all attending ensembles that features more than 200 voices. The IMS touring choir is made up of 15 students including Cole Yoder, Ethan Raim, Adrian Venegas, Jim Wang, Roman Slabach, Nick Yutzy, Caleb Yoder, Cole Ours, Monet Slabach, Avery Blauvelt, Alyssa Gonzales, Emma Beachy, Hannah Peters, Rachel Miller and Dohee Kim. It’s members are selected by audition each November. They also perform several concerts at local churches and venues throughout the year.
