Non-conference competition continues this afternoon at home for the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (1-1). The Demons look to return to winning form when the Solon Spartans (1-2) march into Washington for a varsity tilt. The Spartans edged the Demons, 52-48, last year at Solon.

Washington was last on the court Tuesday in Burlington and the Demons and Grayhounds needed overtime to decide the outcome. Tied at 50 at the end of regulation, Burlington outscored Washington 11-6 in the extra period for a 61-56 victory. The Demons held a 38-33 advantage entering the final quarter. Burlington scored 16 points from the line in the final 12 minutes. Sarah Nacos topped Washington’s scoring with 21 points.

Solon lost two of their first three games of the season after falling to No. 5 Center Point-Urbana Stormin Pointers (3-0) last night, 64-37. Solon has won the last four games against Washington.

The varsity game will tip off at 3 p.m. at Washington High School.
