Harvest is nearing completion in Iowa with 86% of corn in and 95% of beans statewide. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the harvest remains behind the five-year average, with corn one day behind and soybeans lagging five days. In southeast Iowa, 89% of corn and 93% of soybeans have been harvested.

Last week farmers chopped and baled corn stalks, tilled fields and applied fertilizer to fields. Also, in some locations across the state, corn for grain was piled outside as storage for it becomes tighter. On-farm grain storage is 38% short and off-farm storage is 31% short.
