A free drainage water nitrate sampling is being offered Wednesday at the Washington USDA office. The event is for landowners in the West Fork Crooked Creek Demonstration Watershed and is an effort to help reduce nutrient and sediments entering creeks and rivers. To have water tested, take a one cup sample from a pond, stream or tile discharge and take it to the office during the event. The water can be collected up to 24 hours in advance and should be kept cool. The Washington Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting the event from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.
