Another slow start buried the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (6-7 overall) on the road. The Demons played their fourth game away from Washington Tuesday, traveling to Muscatine for a non-conference battle versus the Muskies (4-10 overall). Washington scored nine points in the first half, leaving Muscatine with a 50-38 setback. The Demons trailed 29-9 at halftime, out scoring the Muskies 29-21 in the second half.
Washington’s senior front court provided a majority of the points. Addie Pacha poured in 11 of her game-high 15 points after halftime. MaKayla Miller came off the bench to chip in eight points and eight rebounds. Brynna DeLong added four points.
The Demons held Muskies senior Erin Oppel to five points, all coming in the final quarter. Oppel came into the game as Muscatine’s leading scorer. Junior Abby Rusch scored seven of her game-high 15 points from the free throw line in the final quarter.
Washington drops to 0-4 in road games, and 6-7 overall this season. The Demons return to the floor Friday, road tripping to Fairfield for a Southeast Conference clash against the Trojans.
