Tonight Cedarcrest Country Club in Columbus Junction will play host to the best in Southeast Iowa Super Conference Cross Country.

The SEISC meet boasts some of the best runners and teams in southeast Iowa and the state as a whole. Participating in tonight’s meet from the KCII listening area include runners from Iowa Mennonite School, Highland, Lone Tree, WACO, Winfield-Mt. Union and Columbus. In the latest state team rankings meet participant Mediapolis finds their boys team receiving votes in class 2A, while their girls team is ranked 11th in 2A. In class 1A the Pekin Panther girls are the #1 team in class 2A while the Panther boys check in at #3 in the latest poll.

The field at tonight’s meet contains 10 total ranked runners. On the boys side the highest ranked competition is in class 1A with Ryan Milliken from Pekin standing at #11 in the state followed by multiple time winner this season Kieffer Sexton of Highland, ranked 14th entering tonight. Malcolm Meyers from Pekin checks in at #17 in class 1A entering tonight. Gavin Bencze from Winfield-Mt. Union is ranked #24 individually in class 1A and Austin Fariss of Pekin makes it three Panthers in the top 30 with his #29 ranking in class 1A. Josh Keller is the highest ranked competitor from class 2A at the meet, ranked #13 this week, Keller has been on a roll this season racking up a five meet individual winning streak that was recently snapped. Garret Hinson of Mediapolis is the other ranked 2A boys individual, he stands at #22.

On the girls side of the meet there are three ranked runners all from perennial power Pekin. Gwynne Wright stands at #3 in the state in class 1A entering tonight’s competition, followed by her teammate Shea Dalstrom at #9 and fellow Panther Taylor Lock at #13 in class 1A. Action begins tonight at the Cedarcrest Country Club with the JV race at 4:30.
