Temperatures in Washington the first 10 days of the month have been well below normal. The lowest temperature experience so far this month in Washington was 53 degrees on July 4th, eight degrees above the record low set in 2008. According to the National Weather Service, the average temperature observed so far this July in Washington has been 68.4 degrees, while the normal is 74.3 degrees. The record low for the same time period was just two degrees lower set in 1924. The average high temperature this July has been 77.9 degrees, about six degrees below normal.

So far this year, the average temperature has been 44.1 degrees, about two degrees below normal. Temperatures are expected to rise over the next few days with the mercury in the low 90s on Monday.
