The rain held off long enough for the Highland Co-Ed Track meet last night, where both the Mid-Prairie girls’ and boys’ teams participated.

The girls’ had a second place finish as a team with 114 points just four points behind first place winner Tipton. Freshman Anna Hostetler placed first in two events; She ran the 3000 meter run in 11:08.36 and the 800 meters at 2:31.28.

The Golden Hawks won first place in four relay events. They took first place in the 4×800 with a time of 10:20.87 athletes include; Abby Tornell, Hannah VanRoekel, Greta Schmidt and Maddi Zahradnek. In the girls’ medley they took first with a time of 4:30.59 with participants including; Lexi Duwa, Alex Rath, Schmidt and Tornow. The 4×100 team claimed first place with a time of 51.56 seconds. Athletes in the event were; Ali Butters, Emily Cayton, Duwa and Rath. In the last relay of the night they took first place in the 4×400 with a run of 4:25.27 the team includes; Zahradnek, Schmidt, Tornow and Duwa.

The boys’ took third place as a team last night with 78 points and Lone Tree won the meet with 151 points. Sophomore Levi Duwa swept the throwing events. In the discus he threw 155 feet and 9 inches which was 25 feet further than any other competitor in the event. In the shot put he achieved a personal best throw of 53 feet and 0.75 inches. Senior Jared Draper took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:08.78 and teammate junior Ryan Errthum was right behind taking silver with a time of 2:11.01.
